Embodying: Oozing and Sprouting

This chapter of Creative Embodying involves moving from standing to lying and back to standing.

  • We recommend doing this practice in a space that will allow you to move in all directions, but we encourage you to try it in whatever space is available to you. We recommend playing the audio on a speaker system rather than headphones.
  • Wear clothing that does not restrict or interfere with movement and allow the bare bottoms of your feet to touch the floor. Silence your phone so you are not interrupted.
  • This experience is uniquely yours. Instructions are designed to give everyone freedom to explore and make their own choices while giving a clear path of development, but you don’t have to rigidly adhere to them. You are free to follow your own curiosity and interest. There is no need to push your range of motion, effort, or safety.
  • Moving in unfamiliar ways can activate affective and emotional associations. We recommend leaving some time afterward to process and integrate the experience. You may want to write, draw, play music, move, or just reflect.
